DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF FAULT DIAGNOSIS TECHNOLOGY OF BEARING ON ROLLING STOCK
State of bearing is very important to safety and reliability of rolling stock. With the development of high speed railway and heavy haul, bearing fault diagnostics are more and more used in railroads. Since 1989, China Academy of Railway Sciences has been working on research, development and application of diagnostic technology of bearing fault. Several devices based on vibration were developed, which have been used to detect bearing faults in many companies of China railway. Bearing monitoring technique of passenger train on board has been studied. This paper presents an overview of the methods of feature extraction and condition recognition, and design of the diagnostic devices as well. Multi-parameters and resonance-demodulation (envelope) technique are involved in feature extraction. The methods of pattern recognition used include gray system and neural network, etc. The portable devices and the PC-based instruments and systems are introduced. Some applying effects and cases from field are given. It has been proven that train running incidents related to bearing failures were greatly decreased, and operating safety was improved because of using the diagnostic technology and devices.
