A New Method of Constructing SOM and Its Application in Image Compression
A new method to construct symmetric orthogonal multiwavelets (SOM)with odd harmonic property is introduced. Parameter expressions for the matrix coefficients of the multifilter banks that generate symmetric/antisymmetric scaling functions and multiwavelets supported in 0,3 are presented,its related balanced filters are constructed.Experimental results in image coding demonstrate that balanced SOM transform can perform better than the popular scalar wavelets such as Daubechies biorthogonal 9/7 wavelets.
