STUDY AND AERODYNAMIC DESIGN OF CENTRIFUGAL COOLING FAN ON ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNITS

A centrifugal cooling fan on multiple units was designed based on one-dimensional calculation and three-dimensional numerical simulation. Limited by space of the locomotive, inlet piping layout and the axial exhaust requirement the design became much more difficult. The three-dimensional model was presented based on one-dimensional calculation. Numerical simulation and thorough analysis were carried out on the blower with software NUMECA. The model machine was manufactured based on the optimal project, and the performance experiment of the centrifugal blower was conducted. The results of the experiment indicated that the inlet and outlet flow field was uniform and steady, the aerodynamic performance, vibration and noise performance were remarkably improved compared with the imported blower, especially the power was decreased by 2kw.
