The empirical research on the relation among FDI,Total Export-Import Volume and GDP in China

This paper uses cointegration test to investigate relations of three variables (foreign direct investment, total export-import volume and gross domestic product). The results show that FDI significantly promotes the growth of total import-export volume, but FDI has no significantly effect on increasing GDP which shows that the level of utilization of FDI in China is low and FDI is not really transformed into the Chinese productivity. The increase of total import-export volume promotes the economic growth. Meanwhile, substantial inflows of FDI and rapid economic growth jointly promote the development and prosperity of international trade in China. However, the substantial inflows of FDI can not be explained by the rapid growth of total import-export volume and GDP in China.
