Research on the Order Picking Optimization Problem of the AS/RS in FMS

An optimizing problem was proposed aim to sequence transportation requests within an auto save and retrieve system (AS/RS) in such a way that the overall travel time is minimized. According to the characters of picking working of AS/RS in flexible manufacture system (FMS), the scheduling decisions of task orders have be modeled as an online Asymmetric Traveling Salesman Problem (ATSP). The genetic algorithm was introduced to solve the problem, and the efficiency of the method is showed through the simulation environment and practice.
