Production Planning and Controlling Under Mass Customization Production Environment - Relevant strategic thinking on the developmental history and the future trend in production planning and controlling

摘要：

Mass Customization (MC) is an emerging manufacturing mode with great prospect. It is a different production mode from Mass Production. This paper discusses the applicability of PPC (Production Planning and Controlling) approaches to the Mass Customization production environment. Firstly, some classic PPC approaches, such as MRP, MRPII, ERP, JIT and OPT are discussed. Secondly, a new PPC method --WLC (Workload Control) is introduced. Finally, the paper concludes that among all the PPC approaches, WLC is a suitable framework to deal with production planning and controlling in Mass Customization.
