Systems Dynamics Application to Tacit Knowledge Management

This paper develops an SD (Systems Dynamics) model to expound the mechanism of developing, exploiting, maintaining, and preserving organizational knowledge over time from the aspect of tacit knowledge accumulation.As generally accepted by eastern KM (Knowledge Management) academicians and practitioners, individuals create knowledge and organizations organizationally amplify the knowledge created. Therefore it is worthwhile to investigate into the fluctuation of staff when tacit knowledge amount an organization possesses is concerned. Two HRM (Human Resource Management) policies influencing the staff fluctuation are considered: compensation and promotion. The model developed may be used to understand how knowledge management programs are embedded in the larger environment of the firm, and how that environment is in turn affected by the ability to manage knowledge successfully.
