A New Method for Modeling Traffic Network

摘要：

Modeling road network is the groundwork of traffic planning and path searching. A new Road-Based (RB) modeling method is represented, which intends to reduce the data storage space and model complexity of the road network. In the RB model, a road is regarded as a fundamental modeling element that consists of one start-point and one end-point, whereas intersections and road segments are secondary factors that are treated as attributes of road, and produced by conjunction of roads themselves. A case study shows that, the path searching algorithm based on RB model is feasible, the complexity and time cost of the path searching can be decreased.
