Factors influencing trust between manufacturers and services providers--a empirical analysis based on China auto industry

An effective approach to enhance manufacturers competitive advantage is to outsource specific services to services providers by these manufacturers; however, trust between manufacturers and services providers determines the extent to which such outsourcing behaviors are available. Additionally, factors influencing inter-organizational trust are mutil-dimensional. This paper empirically tests the model advanced by Caldwell (2003) which suggests some factor determining inter-organizational trust and finds evidence supporting this model. The methods used in this empirical study include a survey to China auto manufacturers and ordinal linear regression analysis. Accordingly, conclusions are advanced based on the statistical analysis. Additionally, suggestions to promote trust and interactions between China auto manufacturers and services providers are noted, so are the possible managerial and policy implications.
