THE APPLICATION OF RAPID PROTOTYPING TECHNOLOGY IN DIE MAKING OF DIESEL ENGINE
On the basis of principle of Rapid Prototyping (RP), through the manufacturing process of casting die of the clutch housing of diesel engine, the engineering application of RP technology in die making is discussed in this paper. According to the enterprise requirement in product development and die making, we set up a RE/RP integrated system for engineering application and realize the integrated application of RE/RP in die making. Taking the die of the clutch housing of diesel engine as an example, we do research in the engineering application of RP technology in die making, such as setting hot pressing temperature and hot pressing pressure, matching laser power and laser cutting velocity, layout prototyping model and post processing. The casting die manufactured by RP has been used to produce 100 blanks of the clutch housing, and a good result is obtained.
