e-RP: Concurrent engineering revisited
The term concurrent engineering was popular in the mid 1990s to denote a system where the several phases in the development cycle of a product were no longer executed consecutively but overlapping in time and even in parallel, resulting obviously in a significant reduction of the time to market. This is today only to a limited extend common practice. This paper presents, based on a real-life case, again concurrent engineering as it was never possible before. The enabling technology used is the e-Stage product group developed at Materialise.
