Study on the Personalized Cranium Defects Restoration Technique

The purpose of this paper is to overcome the limitations of the traditional cranial defects restoration technique and better satisfy the aesthetic and comfortable demands of the different patients. We propose and apply a better profile curve blending arithmetic technique, which is based on the well-proportioned points cloud data obtained by analyzing and processing the CT images of the sufferers. This kind of technique, by utilizing the Reverse Engineering technique, reconstructs the model of the defected cranium, taking the complete protruding characteristics of the cranium into full consideration so as to check the form and the appropriateness of the restoration and adjust the surface form real-timely till obtaining the ideal one. Finally,the model is transferred to the MPF pressure machine in order to produce the eligible titanium alloy restoration model. With higher flexibility, shorter production cycle and lower cost, it adopts the digital producing technology and can guarantee the quality of the cranial defects restoration model, reduce the surgery risks and alleviate the patients pain. This paper proposes and applies an improved contour curved bridge algorithm technique, and repairs any cranium defects contour curve to make it more compete and closed.
