The Role of IAEA/AFRA on the Promotion of NDT in Africa
The important role that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the African Regional Co-operative Agreement for Research, Development and Training Related to Nuclear Science and Technology (AFRA) are playing in promoting the use of Non-destructive Testing (NDT) in Africa is presented. The IAEA under its various programmes such as individual country Technical Co-operation (TC) projects and Regional Projects have enabled many countries in the region to acquire basic infrastructure and NDT equipment. The IAEA/AFRA programmes have contributed to the establishment of twoRegional Designated Centres (RDCs), which are providing training leading tointernationally accepted qualification and certification of NDT personnel.
