ENGINEERING ASSET MANAGEMENT-TRENDS, DRIVERS,CHALLENGES AND ADVANCES
Since its introduction as a branding of the broad field of endeavour in 2003 by the CRC for Integrated Engineering Asset Management (CIEAM), the knowhow, systems and technologies in Engineering Asset Management (EAM) and more specifically Integrated Engineering Asset Management (IEAM) have been steadily developing although related disciplines have been in existence for some time now. New multidisciplinary opportunities are now being realised and crafted, most of which will deliver outcomes of significance to our enterprises who are asset owners, asset owners, custodians and operators. This paper presents the outputs of some of the work being conducted by CIEAM in its five years of existence which includes the results of a technology roadmapping exercise which identified trends drivers and challenges facing EAM. A key response is to develop integrated EAM systems, a task that CIEAM is focussed on. Some results have come to the fore and these are reported in this keynote paper for the benefit of the participants of the WCEAM-IMS 2008.
