The reutilization of MSWI fly ash - metal recovery
Incineration is an efficient method for municipal solid wastes (MSW) treatment. Fly ash is regarded as the hazardous material. Thus, disposal of fly ash becomes the main problem for incineration plants. Many kinds of metals are concentrated in fly ash. If we can recycle them, it can not only relieve the resource shortage of metals, but also can change hazardous waste into inert solid waste and then make use of it. The paper introduces the progress of metal recovery from MSWI fly ash and discusses the problem of the existed method. Suggestion is finally put forward that combination of water-washing pretreatment with acid/alkali-washing and solvent extraction may become a potential method for metals recovery from fly ash.
