An experimental study on steam condensation in vertical narrow annular channel

Experiment was conducted to study steam condensation in vertical narrow annular channel. Various experimental phenomenons with different steam velocities and condensate flows were obtained by changing different conditions of steam inlets and steam mass flux. The experimental system was composed of cylindrical glass condenser,cooling water system, post-condenser system, steam generated system and date acquisition system. Non condensable gas was exhausted in advance, and error-correcting for heat equilibrium was kept in 5%. The experimental results showed that droplets and film rotational flow had significant influence on heat transfer, obviously enhanced the heat transfer flux, which could be ascribed to the sweeping effects of steam. It could also be found that the increasing steam mass flux enhanced the heat transfer. At the same time, droplet departure diameter was analyzed by hysteresis tension and force balance model. In a word, steam condensation in narrow annular channel will enhance heat transfer, and accordingly promote the rational use of heat energy.
