Study on Drying Characteristics of Microwave Rotary Dryer
A new hybrid drying by combining microwave and convective heating within a rotary drum, i.e. microwave rotary drying was presented to improve the uniformity of microwave heating in soybean drying. In a laboratory microwave rotary dryer, the effect of the rotational speed of the rotary drum as well as ventilation flow rate on the drying kinetics and cracking ratio of soybean was evaluated experimentally. It is found in this study that microwave rotary dryer has significant potential advantages in increasing drying rate and improving product quality at selected experimental conditions.
