Simulation study of a gas-liquid cyclone
The separation of gas-liquid two phase flow in a cyclone was predicted in this work. The influence of inlet volume fraction and particle diameter to the oil phase distribution and separation efficiency was studied by CFD method. Eulerian-Eulerian two fluid model was adapt to depict the gas-liquid flow, RNG k-?n model was used to simulate the turbulence, SIMPLE algorithm was employed to resolve the velocity-pressure coupling equation. The predicted results indicate that the cut diameter d50 was smaller than 3 m when inlet velocity was 20m/s, and the inlet volume fraction of oil had no distinct difference among the cases studied in this work.
