Effect of Adding H2O on Degradation of Gaseous Toluene in the Photo-Reactor with TiO2 Immobilized on Quartz Optical Fiber
It was proposed the photo-degradation system to remove gaseous toluene efficiently by using TiO2 photo-catalysts. To maintain high catalytic oxidation ability of titanium-dioxide, TiO2 was immobilized on surface of quartz optical fiber, where it was fixed tightly by titanium binder synthesized by sol-gel method. A solution containing particles of TiO2 is immobilized on surface of optical fiber by dip-coating method. The role of H2O in the photoreaction mechanism is to generate hydroxyl radical and the photo-removal ability of toluene could be enhanced by adding H2O at room temperature.
