Selective Oxidation of Cyclopentene to Glutaraldehyde over the WO3/TiO2 Catalyst
A series of supported WO3/TiO2 catalysts were synthesized by sonication impregnation combination approach of ammonium metatungstate aqueous solutions onto TiO2 supports. The obtained WO3/TiO2 catalyst exhibited a very high yield of glutaraldehyde in the liquid phase cyclopentene oxidation by aqueous H2O2. The influence of the WO3 loading was checked by various characterizations of scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Specific surface areas (BET), which indicated that a high dispersion of WO3 on the TiO2 support was obtained while the loading of tungsten oxide was below 20 wt%, and the high dispersion of tungsten oxide was indispensable to get high activity of catalyst and the yield of GA.
