Study of Vapor Phase Aldol Condensation of Acetaldehyde Over Solid Base Catalysts
Solid base catalysts with alkaline or other metal oxide by sol-gel method were prepared for vapor phase aldol condensation of acetaldehyde. The reaction was carried out in the fixed bed reactor at the temperature of 300-350 ℃. Results indicated that the activity of catalysts increase in the order of K2O-SiO2<Na2O-SiO2<Cs2O-SiO2<Li2O-SiO2<ZnO-SiO2<MgO-SiO2. Compared with ZSM-5 and 13X zeolites, SiO2 was found to be the more suitable catalyst support.
