Inhibition to the activities of activated sludge in SBR by high-strength ammonium nitrogen
Two SBR was applied to investigate the characteristic of activities of activated sludge under the condition of high concentration levels of ammonium nitrogen, and the results indicated that the removal efficiencies of COD was decreased from 83.81% of run1 to 54.16% of run2, and that of NH4-N was from 99.82% to run2 either, simultaneously DHA was decreased from 12.92 mgTF/gMLSS*hof run1 to 5.60 mgTF/gMLSS*h of run2, when the concentration of ammonium nitrogen was enhanced from about 50 mg/L of run1 to 400 mg/L of run2, this means that the activities of activated sludge in SBR was inhibited severely by high-strength ammnium.
