Experimental Study on the Removal of H2S by an Electrochemical Reactor

The removal of H S 2 was experimentally investigated by an electrochemical reactor. The electrochemical reactor consists of 5 pairs of stacked RuO /Ti 2 -Ti mesh electrodes. The distance between two neighboring electrodes is 50 mm. The simulated gas was introduced to the reactor from the bottom of the reactor by a gas distributor. The influences of operation parameters such as current density and gas resident time on the removal of H2S were examined. It was found that H S was effectively degraded in the reactor. Over 70% H2S was removed 2 with an operation condition of current density of 0.12 A/cm 2 and a gas flow rate of 2 000 mL/min. It was confirmed that the major final products were sulfur and SO4 2- .
