Synthesis of Chlorosulfonyl-containing Benzophenone Derivative with Thionyl Chloride-DMF System

Chlorosulfonyl-containing 2-hydroxybenzophenone UV absorber CBP-4 was conveniently synthesized from 2-hydroxybenzophenone UV absorber BP-4 with thionyl chloride as chlorination agent and N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) as catalyst. The structure of CBP-4 was confirmed by IR, MS and 1 H NMR spectroscopy. And the preparation conditions were optimized by a series of experiments and the results showed that under optimal conditions, the yield of CBP-4 could reach 94.5%. The synthesis method is relatively clean and suitable for large-scale preparation.
