Predictive functional and parametric predictive cascade control regard with temperature control of a reactor
An advanced control concept, namely predictive functional control (PFC) and parametric predictive control (PPC) technique, is applied to temperature control of a reactor pilot-plant. Due to the complexity of the investigated heat transfer process the s℃alled black-box models are developed, which server as mathematical models to design the controller and to describe the dynamical property of the investigated process in the simulation study. The fundamental philosophies of PFC and PPC technique are described and its main differences with a standard model based predictive control (MBPC) and the conventional PID control concept are discussed. With help of the commercial simulation software Aspen Custom Modeler(r) of Aspen ONE 2006 the reactor with its heat exchangers and corresponding temperature controllers are implemented. To optimize the overall control performance cascade control algorithm is implemented and dynamical simulation is executed. PFC, PPC and PID as control concept are implemented thereof. Both the experimental and simulative results of PFC and PPC present an excellent capability of tracking of the set point. Moreover the PFC and PPC controller is simple to tune and easy to integrate in the process control system for industrial application .
