Stability of Copper-based Catalysts for Catalytic Wet Air Oxidation

Catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO) of the coking wastewater over Cu-Ce-Zn complex oxide catalyst in a high pressure reactor has been investigated. The results show that when Cu:Ce:Zn=6:2:5, pH=7.5, T(production)=60℃, T(sinter)=800℃ and time(sinter)=6h, the effectiveness of the catalyst shows best. The best conditions of treating the coking wastewater are as follows: under 1.5g/L of the total catalyst, T(reaction)=200 ℃,PO2=1.6MPa, Time=60min, the CODcr removal rate can be achieved to 89.3%, and the decomposition of NH3-N can be achieved to 85.3%. After the circulation of 10 times, the activity of the catalyst decreased by 10%, and the quantity of Cu 2+ leaching was 0.38 mg/L, which is basically steady.
