Functional catalysts derived from refuse incineration residue
Co-burning municipal solid waste with coal for electricity generation is a relatively new and unique way to dispose urban refuse in China. As a by-product of the process, a new type of waste ash is produced. The ash typically contains high content of aluminum and silicate. The present study was carried out for effective utilization of incineration residue from municipal solid waste incinerator. Using the ash as raw material, two catalysts, catalyst A (Na2Al2Si2.5O9·6.2H2O) and catalyst B (Na1.08Al2Si1.68O7.44·1.8H2O), were synthesized by fusion technique combined with hydrothermal treatment. The optimal synthesis conditions were established. The catalysts could effectively increase hydrogen and carbon monoxide generation in bio-fuel pyrolysis process.
