K+ and Na+ absorption in Amelanchier alnifolia and Acer negundo L seedlings with deicing chemicals application

In this paper, the research investigated the growth response and Na + , K + absorption and transportation in roots, stems and leaves of Amelanchier alnifolia and Acer negundo L with the deicing chemicals application. The results showed that with the increase of the contents of deicing chemicals, dry weight decreased. Compared with 1 # deicing chemicals, dry weight of the seedlings with 2 # deicing chemicals application decreased faster. K + contents decreased, while their Na + contents increased. Na + contents of Amelanchier alnifolia increased in order of roots, leaves and stems, while Acer negundo L was in order of leaves, roots and stems. Compared with Acer negundo L, Amelanchier alnifolia had a higher transportation selectivity of K + to Na + from root to leaves and retained more Na + in root. It was concluded that Amelanchier alnifolia accumulated more K + and less Na + in leaves, and the ratios of leaf K/Na were higher, and showed stronger tolerance.
