A highly efficient catalyst for biomass tar steam reforming producing H2-rich fuel gas
Mayenite (Ca12Al14O33) was previous developed by our group, which has high oxygen restored property, include O2 and O2 2- radicals, the amount of O2 and O2 2- restored in mayenite reaches 0.19%(wt) at 700 ℃, and been proved that has a high performance on hydrocarbon destruction. In this study, mayenite and newly developed catalyst (Ni/mayenite, Ni metal 5%wt) for biomass tar removal, was tested in a fixed-bed reactor in toluene steam reforming as a tar destruction model reaction. The Ni/mayenite shows excellent benzene selectivity. The influence of the catalyst preparation parameters and operating parameters (reaction temperature, steam t℃arbon ratio and space time) on activity and selectivity was examined showing a high toluene conversion and a low carbon formation compared to other catalysts.
