Brown coal liquefaction in H2O-CO and H2O-H2 systems

Shenli coal has been reacted in 500ml autoclave using water and carbon monoxide as a hydrogen source and FeS based catalyst. The effects of temperature, pressure, ratios of coal and water, atmosphere were studied. The total conversion of liquefaction of Shenli coal was 70.2wt% and 58% of the oil+gas yield at 380 ℃,3MPa CO and FeS for 45 min. Both of total conversion and oil+gas yield are increased with the increase of the temperature but the asphaltine yield is decreased accordingly. Amount of water is an important factor to the liquefaction of brown coal in the H2O-CO system. In the condition of same temperature, lower ratio of coal and water is beneficial to the brown coal liquefaction reaction. The results in different initial CO pressure (3MPa and 4MPa) show that higher pressure avails to the reaction.The liquefaction conversion of coal and H2O-CO system is higher than it in the H2O-H2 system. The oil was also analyzed with 1 H-NMR.
