Kinetics of pyrolysis of coal with PE and PP

The pyrolysis of coal and plastic is being presently considered to generate the necessary energy to supply the increasing energy demand and as well as new technology to reduce the negative environment of plastic wastes. However, knowledge of pyrolysis kinetics is of great importance for the design and simulation of the reactor and in order to establis h theoptimum process conditions. In this study, the thermal decomposition of polyethylene, polypropylene, Huolinhe lignite, Shenmu bituminite and their mixture was studied by thermogravimetry under a nitrogen atmosphere. Experiments were carried out in the temperature range 25℃~1200℃. The results showed that there was a pyrolysis oil-production peak between 400 ℃ and 550 ℃ for Huolinhe lignite, Shenmu bituminite, polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), and the coal, 490 ℃ for PE and 460 ℃ for PP; Through the comparation of pyrolysis kinetics, the reaction order and the activation energy of Huolinhe lignite, Shenmu bitumite, PE and PP were similar.
