Morphology Effect of Ceria on the Activity of Au-CeO2 Catalysts for the CO Oxidation Reaction
Uniformly distributed single-crystalline nanorods, nanocubes, and nanopolyhedra ceria were prepared by a hydrothermal method, and then Au colloid nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of these ceria to obtain Au-CeO2 catalysts. Their catalytic activities for CO oxidation were evaluated, and the effect of the cerium dioxide morphology on the activity of Au-CeO2 for the oxidation of CO was investigated. As supports, the nanorods (110+100) and the nanopolyhedra (111+100) ceria exhibit higher activity than nanocubes (100) ceria. At the lower temperature Au-nanopolyhera ceria exhibit better activity ,whereas Au-nanorods ceria becomes the best one of the three at the higher temperature.
