Effect of Polymer Concentration in casting solution on Performance of Zirconium Oxide Particles Filled PAN-based Hybrid Membranes
PAN-based polymer and zirconium oxide( ZrO2) particles were used as membrane materials to prepare inorganic/organic hybrid membranes by the phase inversion method. The loading of inorganic particles in membranes was kept at 50% by weight. The impact of polymer concentration in casting solution and coagulation temperature on performance of ZrO2/PAN-based hybrid membranes was investigated. The appropriate concentration of polymer in casting solution was in the range of 10-20% by weight. When the temperature of coagulation bath was over 45 ℃, the rejection of BSA tended to increase, but the flux had a tendency to decrease. The membrane properties of membranes such as pure water flux, rejection of BSA, and morphological structure of hybrid membranes were characterized. The feed pH had influence on flux and rejection of BSA solution for ZrO2/PAN-based hybrid membranes. The flux of BSA solution was declined when the pH of the solution was below the isoelectric point of BSA.
