DNA METHYLATION OF MOUSE OOCYTES DERIVED FROM IN VITRO CULTURED PRIMORDIAL GERM CELL

In recent several years, it has become increasingly clear that epigenetic regulation of gene expression is critical during mammalian oogenesis. Many genes categorized as imprinted gene which is regulated by epigenetic modification of DNA methylation in differentially methylated region (DMR) are exclusively expressed either from maternal or paternal allele. Few imprinted genes have been found to acquire a methylation marker in the female germ line. Research on the development of mammalian ovarian oocyte has primarily focused either on early development stage of germ cells or on later postnatal follicular growth and maturation.
