Economic Values for the Meat Quality Traits in High Quality Meat Chicken
In this article, the meat quality trait of chicken for use in genetic selection was classified into two categories that is, the optimum traits and the ordinary traits, and then the concept of marginal price in the breeding program was proposed for the first time, finally, two simplified models were developed to derive economic values of the meat quality traits, respectively. The parameters required for the method are the value, population mean,standard deviation, the distribution and the optimum range of meat quality traits, price differences between meat products, within and outside the optimum range and the corresponding price of different classes of meat quality.
