Distributions of arsenic in the phytoaccumulator Nephroleps auriculata (L.) Triman
An arsenic phytoaccumulator Nephroleps auriculata (L.) Triman was found and studied, which has not been reported in literature. The accumulation behaviors and the distributions of arsenite and total arsenic in the phytoaccumulator of N. auriculata (L.) Triman was studied in laboratory with a series of potted incubation experiments. Arsenic was mainly accumulated in frondages other than stems, and rhizomes for the large flux and arsenic enrichment in frondages. The accumulated capacity in the different tissues in the phytoaccumulator N. auriculata (L.) Triman for arsenic is in order: frondages >> rhizomes > stems with the relatively percentage of 50%, 30%, and 20%. The distributions of arsenic in the cell compositions of phytoaccumulator N. auriculata (L.) Triman are in order of: plant cell walls >> proteins > organic acid and other soluble composition >> fattiness, coloring matters and waxiness with a relatively percentages of 65%, 25%, 8%, and 2%, respectively.
