Adsorption of Dimethylformamide by Macroporous Chitosan Membranes
The aim of this work is to develop a macroporous chitosan membrane by using silica gel as porogen for dimethylformamide adsorption. The morphology, porosity and DMF adsorption capacity of the macroporous chitosan membrane were measured. SEM photographs show the pores in the membrane dispersed uniformly. The porosity of the membrane was depending on the weight ratio of silica gel to chitosan and reached a maximum value of 50.33% when the weight ratio of silica gel to chitosan was 10.DMF adsorption capacity of the macroporous chitosan membranes increased with increasing porosity of the membranes and reached 145 mg/g membrane when porosity of the membrane was 50.33%. The adsorption equilibrium data can be well fitted using Freundlich adsorption model. Regeneration of the macroporous chitosan membranes was also investigated. The results show that DMF adsorption capacities of the macroporous chitosan membranes keep almost unchanged after regenerated several times.
