Divergent Thinking Based on the Symbol Design
Industrial design researches people and creates objects, which, therefore, can not be separated from the creation of form. Human beings are developing with the discovery and creating the shape, who also has cultured our own sensory organ in the cognition and shape, endowing form with expression, forming the symbol, thence symbol is looked as the visual carrier of emotion, served as a bridge of spirited communication.The history of mankind is also the history of creating and using symbols. The mankinds process of consciousness is actually the process of symbolizing the world. The arrival of digital age makes design be in the age of rebuilding semiotic system. So the design of symbols becomes the very important issue that every designer must be faced.Thinking is the process of selecting, assembling, converting and regenerating of symbols. This paper is targeted in the design of symbols, pulling into divergent thinking, thinking in all directions, exploring a variety way of problem-solving, starting with the use of emotion and patterns, instructions and patterns, symbolic and patterns, national character and patterns, and exploring symbol designs methods and ways during the information age.
