Determination of The Contents of Ginsenosides in Different Parts And Ages of Panax Qumquefolius L.
The contents of 12 ginsenosides (Rg1,Re,F11,Rf,Rg2,Rh1,Rb1,Pc,Rb2,Rb3,Rd,Rh2) in different parts and ages of Panax quinquefolius L.(American ginseng) were quantified by high pressure microwave-assisted extraction (HPMAE) high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with evaporative light scattering detection (HPLC-ELSD).The marker of American ginseng F11 was detectable in all parts of American ginseng. And it is validated that Rf which is the chemical marker of Asian ginseng does not exist in American ginseng. The results show that the contents of 12 ginsenosides are varied in different parts of American ginseng.Ginsenoside Rh1 and Rh2 were not detectable in American ginseng in this study. The contents of ginsenoside Rg2 was found quite low even that it could not be detectable in some parts of American ginseng. The contents of ginsenoside Rb1 and Rc in stem and leaf are less than that in main-root,root-hair and rhizome, while the contents of ginsenoside Rb2 and Rb3 in main-root,root-hair and rhizome are less than that in stem and leaf. The contents of ginsenoside Re and Rb1,and the total content of ginsenosides in main-root increase with age.The total content of ginsenosides in leaf is the highest in all parts of American ginseng. So the leaf of American ginseng is a better available source of ginsenosides.
