Case Study-Energy Diagnosis of Two Campus Buildings to Analyze Commissioning Benefits Persistence
As commissioning (Cx) for both new buildings and existing buildings becomes more and more prevalent around the world, commissioning benefits and maintenance problems have emerged and concerned by building owners and commissioning providers.Complicated system and long-term construction period lead to so many uncertainties that would offset commissioning outcomes significantly. Some works indicate that due to changes in occupancy scheduling and control strategies, part of commissioning items cant be persisted as expected. In our study, two commissioned campus buildings,H and S,are selected to be collected more information. This paper represents energy auditing in a famous university campus at the beginning, verifying commissioning effect by comparing H and S with some other buildings of the same style, and then detecting the vital factors against commissioning persistence by on-site investigation. It can be concluded that commissioning measures in these two buildings havent been executed successfully.Problems were found due to limited support for commissioning, and lack of maintenance and sensor calibration.
