Dimension Design of Slotted Horizontal Shade Suitable to South Window of Rural Buildings in Tianjin of China
As an auxiliary installation, slotted horizontal shade plays an important role in the energysaving of a building. On one hand,it could prevent direct solar radiation in summer, which reduces cooling load.On the other hand, however, its installation would reduce solar heat gain in winter, which increases heat load.Fortunately, slotted horizontal shade could simultaneously satisfy shading demand in summer and solar heat gain in winter with proper design.Taking shading coefficient K as the link, with 1.5-meter window height hw prevalent in rural buildings, specific analysis has been done to optimize physical dimension of slotted horizontal shade over south window in Tianjin of China.Respective effect of shade width W and spacing between shade and window upside d1 on average shading coefficients K in summer and winter have been quantitatively analyzed. The results show that in Tianjin of China,with1.5-meter hw prevalent in rural buildings, when the values of W and d1 are 0.6meter and 0.4meter,a quite satisfactory result can be got, with average shading coefficient K 0.78 in summer and 0.03 in winter.Furthermore, reasonable size design of slot is studied in the paper to strengthen heat discharge in summer, and the result shows that slot width X should be less than 0.296Y in Tianjin of China.
