Experimental and Numerical Analysis of Heat Transfer and Airflow on an Interactive Building Facade
Building envelope is a main responsible component for building energy demand.Different kinds of Double Skin Facades (DSF) are used as a building envelope nowadays to reduce the energy demand and to improve aesthetical view of buildings.Although a few buildings have used DSF,the thermal performance of the DSF is not well understood. This investigation used a decoupling CFD approach to account for the effects of solar radiation. Then the CFD was further employed to analyze the flow and heat transfer in a commercially available DSF.The numerical results obtained by the CFD approach agree well with the experimental data collected on a full scale test room with a ventilated DSF.
