Application of Microencapsulated Phase Change Material in Building Energy Conservation
The microencapsulated phase change material (PCM) is an ideal material for accumulating energy used in building. It is made of a low temperature shaped stabilized phase paraffin which takes high density polyethylene as supporting material.By applying the microencapsulated phase change material to the indoor wall of a building, cold can be absorbed and stored during the air-conditioning period, and then released when the air conditioning equipment stops working. When the material is used to the outside wall,it can also absorb solar heat energy during the daytime and release it into the house at night.A numerical analysis of the effects of the phase change materials applied to the wall of the building is made with a simplified model of wall, and a comparison is made between the walls with and without phase change materials inside. It can be concluded that the performance of the microencapsulated phase change material in energy conservation is remarkable.
