Simulation of the Effect of Smoke-exhausting Way and Outlet Arrangement on Smoke Diffusion in Walkway Under Nature Ventilation

In this paper a mathematical model of smoke flow in high-rise buildings was established and a κ-ε three-dimensional turbulence model with two equations was used to simulate the effect of different smoke-exhausting ways and positions on smoke distribution in the walkway under natural ventilation.It was concluded,from the analysis and comparison,that smoke screen played an obvious role in preventing smoke diffusion in early fire,and that evacuation time could be prolonged by designing reasonable height and numbers of smoke screen.For some important places where the mechanical exhaust way was adopted,the exhaust outlets should be fixed in the center of the smoke screen rather than around the atria.The big-sized exhaust outlet should be split into several small outlets to keep the total area and the smokeexhausting quantity unchanged and prevent economic input from increasing so as to get the best smoke-exhausting effect.
