Experiment on and Evaluation of the Influence of Dynamic Outdoor Artificial Lighting on Vision and Perception

The study lays emphasis on the influence of dynamic outdoor artificial lighting on visual perception of the general public by measuring the subjects responses under different experimental conditions. This experiment simulated dynamic light environment in the laboratory and investigated the influences of three completely-crossed independent variables namely background brightness,distance/solid angle and stimulation speed on visual perception.Further, the influences of experimental condition and exposure duration on various physical scales were discussed. The response-distance and response-duration curves were established. The regression analyses of the experimental objective physical quantity and subjective response were made to obtain the linearity function model between mental scale and physical scale. In fact, dynamic light exerts a direct influence on actions of the drivers and the residents due to different light colors, brightness and frequencies. Therefore, the study is conduced to optimize dynamic lighting in a city.
