Indoor Air Quality of New Hotels: Grey Theory Approach

This paper aims to assess the correlation between the subjective assessment of indoor air quality and the objective assessment of indoor air quality based on measured levels of toluene, inhalable dust particles and bacteria. Indoor air samples were taken in five new high-rise hotels ranging from four- to five- star. Twenty respondents staying in the same room for 60 minutes were asked to fill in the questionnaire about the feeling of the air quality.Grey correlation approach was used to analyze the collected data. It was found that the grey degrees were 0.91 for toluene,0.84 for particulate and 0.57 for bacteria. Some suggestions to deal with the problems were discussed.
