Field Survey of Semi-outdoor Spaces in Singapore
The purpose of this study is to investigate peoples thermal comfort perception and preference with regard to semi-outdoor spaces in Singapore. In this study, the field survey includes long-term micrometeorological measurement and short-term questionnaire survey. In the field survey, objective and subjective measurements are conducted simultaneously. The objective measurements confirm that compared with indoor environment, the environment in semi-outdoor spaces is relatively dynamic, variable, unstable and difficult to control. The result shows that people in tropics prefer more air movement and cooler condition to neutral condition in semi-outdoor spaces. The degree of thermal dissatisfaction depends on which subjective rating scale is used to assess it.
