Field Studies of Heating Effect on Thermal Comfort in Spring in a Frosty Zone
Two field studies were conducted in a university classroom in the spring of 2005 in Harbin. The object of the field studies is to assess thermal environment, human comfort and the effect of heating on thermal comfort in a university classroom during the lesson hours. One field study was carried out during the heating period, and the other was done when heating was stopped. The thermal comfort variables were measured when the students were filling in the subjective questionnaires on thermal sensation and thermal comfort in the indoor environment.91 sets of questionnaire responses were obtained. The results reveal that the neutral operative temperature is 22.8℃,and the acceptable temperature range is 17.8-27.9℃,and the studentsthermal acceptability of the indoor thermal environment during the heating period is higher than that the heating was stopped although the indoor physical environment during the heating period is more uncomfortable, and students are more sensitive to the environment when heating in the classroom is stopped. This shows that expectation influences studentsthermal sensation votes of the indoor environment.
