Analysis of Energy Conservation Strategies for Rural Housing in Northern China
The housing energy consumption in the rural areas of Northem China has been increasing steadily and coal consumption takes up a large proportion of energy for space heating and cooking.Measures need to be taken to lower the energy consumption in a cost-effective manner. In this paper, the effectiveness of several energy-saving methods is discussed, and the quantitative effects are presented by simulation. The analysis shows that passive energysaving strategies, such as reducing heat loss (wall insulation/air tightness/increase window thermal resistance, etc) and utilizing passive solar (solar collector wall/sunshine room, etc.)should first be considered for the rural housing energy-saving because of their significant energy conservation effects and low cost. The active heating mode is needed only when the required room temperature cannot be reached by passive mode alone.
