Comparison of the Climate in China and Europe with Respect to the Energy Performance of Buildings
Two critical elements of the energy consumption of buildings are climate and building energy standards. Thus a new detailed climate analysis between China and Europe has been carried out, using the classification methods in the ASHRAE transactions 4610-4611.In this study, the temperature data for 46 cities and annual heating degree day and cooling degree day data for 60 cities from Europe and China were selected and investigated. The results show that two similar climate zones regarding the monthly temperature can be recognised, namely a winter similarity zone at around -4℃ and a summer similarity zone at about 23℃;four climate zones in which China and Europe are similar with respect to the energy consumption of buildings have been discovered. The most significant of the discoveries is the possibility of improving sustainable building development regarding the energy consumption buildings in both China and Europe by sharing knowledge from the points of view of building energy codes, standards, and beyond-code guidelines.
